This is the most important question for which you can ever find the answer. Here at Gateway Bible Baptist Church, we want to show you what God says about this question and show you from the Bible how you can know where you the source of peace and where you will spend eternity!
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
Here are three simple steps that will help you to have confidence that you will spend eternity in Heaven and not Hell.
1. Realize you are a sinner
Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Each one of us is a sinner by nature and by choice. Every sin is an offence against God. The penalty for sin is a major matter.
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
You must admit to God that you are a sinner and confess to Him that you have sorrow in your heart because of your sin.
2. Recognize there is a Saviour
Romans 5:8: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
When Jesus died on the cross and then arose from the dead, He paid the price that was owed for our sin and provided the only way to Heaven!
3. Receive Jesus as your Saviour
Romans 10:9: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:13: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Do you understand these Bible truths?
If so, then let's ask the Lord to be your Saviour by placing your faith in Him. God wants you to place your complete, and absolute faith in Christ to be saved. No good works, no church or any form of baptism will garner forgiveness from God. Only a simple faith in Christ's death, burial and resurrection and a recognition of your sinful condition before God will produce eternal salvation. Below is a sample prayer, that will not save you, but is merely a template to helping you talk to the Lord and ask Him to be your Saviour. God wants you to speak to Him from your heart:
"Dear God, I admit to You that I'm a sinner deserving of Your punishment. I know I cannot save myself. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus died on the Cross and arose from the dead to pay my sin debt. I do right now place my faith in Him to be my Saviour. Please forgive me for my sins, save me and come into my heart. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen!"
This prayer will not save you, and there are no magical words to becoming a Christian. This is just a guide to help you tell God that you are sorry for your sins, and you need His forgiveness. If you have done this or have further questions, would you please call us or email us and we would be glad to help you, or provide you with more information. If you have genuinely done this, then the Bible says that you are a child of God, and you will live with God in Heaven forever when this life is over.
